The qualified individual will support the accounting, financial reporting, and control processes across Grand Living Senior Living Communities and Grand Living Headquarters. Providing direct support to the Controller, the Senior Accountant's primary responsibilities include day-to-day cash management, intercompany transactions, and maintaining the general ledger to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. In addition, the position will work closely with Business Office Managers in each community to offer guidance & support to ensure accurate month end financial reporting.


Principal Accountabilities: General Ledger Accounting & Reporting; Account Reconciliations & Analysis; Cash Management


General Ledger Accounting & Reporting

  • Prepare & distribute monthly financial statements for each Community
    • Review month end accounting completed by the business office manager from each community.
    • Identify and appropriately prepare adjusting Journal Entries.
    • Transfer monthly financial & statistical data files to external stakeholders.


Account Reconciliations and Analysis 

  • Maintain monthly reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Provide Actual to Plan variance analysis.
  • Assist with the analysis of revenue and expenditure trends.
  • Prepare accurate calculations and schedules to support financial activity.
  • Provide insight to budget owners to assist with expenditure control.
  • Participate in the annual budgeting & ongoing forecasting process.
  • Maintain permanent files on fixed assets including capital purchases invoices.


Cash Management

  • Review daily bank activity and update cash flow schedule, as needed.
  • Reconcile/Settle Due To/From Accounts.
  • Prepare monthly operational draw requests for each construction site.



  • Key resource for Eldermark software.
  • Offer innovative approaches to streamline processes & controls.
  • Assist with procedure documentation & training.
  • Act as backup for the Accounts Payable function.


Qualifications Required  

  • Four-year undergraduate degree in accounting.
  • Minimum 5 years work experience in accounting or business office setting.
  • An understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)
  • Thorough understanding of all elements of financial operations and their impact on the general ledger.  
  • Experience should include General Ledger account reconciliations and analysis; cash management; and preparation of bank account reconciliations.
  • Ability to travel up to 15%.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
